Alyna O’Hanlon
I was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, before moving east to attend Wellesley College. After graduating with degrees in English Literature and Studio Art, I spent several years teaching English as a second language both in Korea and the United States, intermittently moonlighting as a bartender, illustrator, and baker (specializing in pie and granola). Eventually I followed my deep interest in wellness and the body to study massage at East West College in Portland, Oregon.
While at East West I focused my studies on myofascial release, Tui Na, Swedish, deep tissue, trigger point therapy, and Thai massage. Since finishing the program, I have also completed trainings in Hawaiian Lomi Lomi, Reiki Level 1 & 2, and Structural Integration. I draw upon all of these modalities to offer a massage that meets your body's needs. No two of us are alike and massage requires awareness, knowledge, and curiosity. I believe rest and connection are profound medicines that so many of us are deeply needing in these modern times. I also believe your body holds all the information of what it needs to feel whole and well. My goal with massage is to promote relaxation and rejuvenation of your nervous system to facilitate a stronger connection with your body and its inner healing capabilities.
When not practicing massage you can find me investigating new modalities through continuing education and exploring new concepts in healing, spending time with family (Hi Bubbles!) and friends, creating art, enjoying nature, and dreaming up new adventures.

What is Moon Language?
With That Moon Language is a poem by the Persian lyric poet Hafiz in which he contemplates the universal desire to feel connected and loved. I believe this is what bodywork is about at the core: "That great pull in us to connect" with our bodies, with the rhythms of nature, with the broader communities and systems that we are a part of. Ultimately we each have the power to be this connection, this love that we seek. Massage is a tool. It helps facilitate an ease of being which in turn enables us to be our most authentic, true selves.
